The IPA Specialist will be responsible for refining and enhancing a basic predictive model that leverages historical ER&D data to forecast ER&D spending levels for new vehicle proposals. The IPA Specialist will also be responsible for documenting how the model works so that it can be easily and simply explained to all stakeholders of the vehicle development process. This work includes interaction with ER&D Estimators, Model and Unit Planners, ED&D team, Engineering, Brand, Vehicle Integration, Powertrain, U Connect, Quality, PDO and others in all corporate FCA regions. The resulting model will be used to predict Labor, Direct Material, ED&D, and Powertrain spending based on the vehicle definition provided. It is expected to be a global tool that will be utilized for ER&D estimation for every FCA market.
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university; other degrees, in combination with relevant engineering experience, may also be considered
•Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience to include part engineering and releasing, program management, and/or assembly plant pilot/launch/production processes
•Adept at time management, follow up, and prioritization
•Able to sift, sort and organize large data sets including advanced MS Excel skills
•Strong communication skills — able to communicate easily with upper management
•Self-starter and motivated to produce results
•Basic understanding of the components/systems of the vehicle and how they align to the existing Engineering disciplines (Body, Interior, Chassis, Electrical, Engine Systems, Powertrain)
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience working with personnel from other FCA regions such as EMEA, APAC, or LATAM
•Experience and understanding of the vehicle cost process (ER&D, SCE or VCE)
•Basic understanding of regression analysis and statistics
•Experience with using and creating pivot tables
•Understand the relationship between the various Engineering disciplines and the impact of specific content changes from a whole vehicle perspective
•Vehicle Program Life Cycle experience
•Knowledge of the automotive industry and competitive benchmarks
•Experience as a Resident/Quality Engineer at one or more manufacturing plants
