Department Summary
The Gas Field Leader may be involved in the management and inspection of contract work, approving orders related to work performed by non-company crews and field verification of work completion to contract specifications.
Individuals will have thorough familiarity with scheduling and work process flows, be capable of performing emergency leadership roles, perform safety and construction compliance audits, perform site readiness inspections, may handle and resolve routine customer issues, may lead project initiatives or assist in change implementation efforts, manage interfaces with other utilities or entities. Work may involve multiple shifts, locations and unusual hours to support unusual events.
Job Description/Responsibilities
•This Field Leader position is responsible for the safe and productive execution of field work in the Saginaw T&S area with a primary focus on Measurement and Regulation.
•Provide leadership for up to 15 employees and participate in supervisory on-call duties.
•Lead and provide technical expertise, interact with customers, and direct work activities to meet established work plans and objectives.
Requirements/Qualifications
•Requires technical knowledge in Gas transmission, distribution, and metering or Gas compression and storage gained either through a technical field of study and/or through related work experience.

•Experience working in a union environment, knowledge of our working agreement and prior supervisory experience.
Essential Functions
Responsible for the planning, organization, coordination, evaluation and supervision of employees assigned to the operation, maintenance and construction of Gas distribution systems, customer Gas services, buildings and grounds or utility support areas. Recommends proposed changes and enhancements to systems and facilities operation; responds to complaints and requests for information; prepares and maintains reports of completed job orders and the status of jobs in progress. Inspects job sites to check on work progress, assures satisfactory completion and plans new assignments; prepares requisitions for operations and maintenance supplies, equipment and materials and supervises special projects as required. Conducts regular safety meetings, participates as a member of safety committee; investigates and completes necessary incident reports and accident reports; maintains records, prepares and submits required reports for appropriate agencies. Implements preventative maintenance programs. Regular attendance is expected.
Hours and Travel
This position requires the individual to work a minimum of 40 hours per week with a majority of the time spent in the office or specific field locations. Individual needs to be willing to work additional hours as necessary to meet deadlines or assist with storm restoration activities and could be given very short notice to do so. Individual should be willing to participate in the on-call rotation in case of potential storms. Individual may have to work outside of assigned headquarters to help with storm restoration which may require overnight stays. Could potentially work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of the customer, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime. Individual must have a valid driver's license.
