Coder/Abstractor - OSFMG - Escanaba, Michigan (MIC000263)
The CODER/ABSTRACTOR works under the direction of the SUPERVISOR CHARGE ENTRY-PATIENT RELATIONS-REIMBURSEMENT.
Promotes and exemplifies the mission and values of The Sisters of The Third Order of St. Francis and supports the goals of OSF Healthcare System; Responsible for correct coding and charge entry of all patient encounters including office visits, off site testing, labs, hospital and nursing home charges; responds to all inquiries by patients regarding their bill and/or charges posted to their billing or other pertinent data; using their advanced knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding, evaluates each charge for accuracy and requests review if necessary; maintains an understanding of all Michigan coding and Michigan specific provider requirements; posts Time-of-Service payments as assigned; responsible for daily batching and balancing; works with Peoria CBO to solve charge entry problems; gathers information necessary for completion of charge entry; attends meetings as required; completes other assignments as required by the SUPERVISOR CHARGE ENTRY-PATIENT RELATIONS-REIMBURSEMENT.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Two years previous experience with physician office coding.
•Advanced knowledge of CPT, ICD-9 and HCPC's required.
•Basic Windows skills required.
•Additional software training as necessary.
