Champion Bus, Inc., was founded in 1953 and located on 73 acres just outside Imlay City, Michigan. Champion is one of the pioneers of the mid-size commercial bus industry and began producing these buses in 1981. In 2012, Champion Bus acquired Federal Coach, and began producing a luxury line of buses. In October 2013, Champion was acquired by and joined the REV Group family.

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, this position supervises employees in the manufacturing and assembly environment. Reviews applications, interviews and makes recommendations for hiring and/or terminations. Plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions. Provides leadership and utilizes independent judgment and action necessary to maintain normal on-going operations. Implements employee training, safety programs, quality, productivity, standard operating procedures, cost and performance activities to ensure a well-trained, stable workforce within the production organization.
Responsibilities
• When production positions become available, reviews applications, conducts interviews and makes recommendations for hiring and terminations. Makes decisions planning and assigning work responsibilities, ensures compliance to company policy and procedures, and maintains active involvement in company Lean and other improvement activities.
• Ensures effective employee relations. Provides employee coaching and development. Investigates and resolves employee issues through problem/conflict resolution and established policies and procedures.
• Balances safety, quality, productivity, and cost, as well as morale to achieve positive results in all assigned areas. Works to continuously improve all areas, ensure a safe work environment, and conducts coaching and development activities to increase subordinates’ skill and capabilities.
• Manages departmental performance measures, including visual controls, employee performance reviews and provides regular progress reports to the production superintendent/manager.
• Provides cross-functional communication with other department supervisors and managers to insure inventory control, production schedules, and on-time delivery.
• Direct, leads and coordinates various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g. training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, Lean activities, etc.)
•Performs accident and safety investigations.
•Supports semi-annual financial audits and year-end inventory as requested.
•Accomplishes all other related duties as appropriately assigned or requested.Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in a technical field and 3 to 5 years of Production and Process Improvement experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills, team player, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of process improvement, safety, quality, productivity, cost, delivery, and employee relations.
• Ability to perform employee training and development, conflict resolution, problem analysis and resolution, quality orientation, and inventory management.
• Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets complex engineering drawings, change orders, and production build instructions and documents.
• Computer proficient with a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and other software utilized in the production operations.
