DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Federal Mogul's Powertrain Division is looking for a Director of Operations that will be responsible to oversee management of manufacturing facilities within the Ignition product group, ensuring products are produced meeting company objectives relating to safety, productivity, quality, and cost. This person will become a valued member of our Ignition team, where we strive to promote from within wherever possible;
therefore, opportunities for advancement are strong.
An ideal candidate for this position is a candidate who possesses a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field and proven professional experience in Manufacturing and/or Operations. A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others, an ability to think ahead, strategic planning and the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities are all necessary qualifications for this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Responsible for strategic planning, and is responsible for managing the budget and controlling expenses.
•Manages plant managers at manufacturing facilities to ensure that production results are achieved within established benchmarks.
•Ensures inventory and shipping/receiving functions at the manufacturing facilities are operating at levels which meet customers' needs and established financial benchmarks.
•Ensures standards for product quality, equipment, and operator performance are maintained and that cost-effective technology is used to maximize production.
•Initiates and coordinates major projects (e.g. plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.).
•Ensures fixed assets are preserved. Approves recommendations on purchases of new equipment and improvements to plant property.
•Alerts senior management of costs and labor over runs, making recommendations and implementing solutions related to same.
•Advises plant managers on labor issues including safety, security, employee relations, scheduling, and training.
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
•Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field. MBA a plus.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
•Minimum of twelve (12) years manufacturing and/or operations experience.
•Plant experience, and plant management within a unionized facility preferred.
•Lean Manufacturing techniques, Kaizen, Process Improvement, freight and distribution, materials management, and production scheduling preferred.
•Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
•Ability to lead a team, motivate and get results through others.
•Strong customer orientation.
