Trillium Technical is currently seeking a Senior Purchasing Specialist in the Rochester Hills area. Candidate is responsible for purchasing direct, indirect and outside processing services to support manufacturing and coordinate all purchasing activities for Raw Material, high-tech Machined Parts, Assemblies, Software and other commodity type components and services
* Issue requests for quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP) and select best source consistent with cost, quality, service and delivery requirements
* Verifies purchase requisitions accuracy by comparing requested items to master part number list
* Prepares RFQ’s for all Production and Prototype requirements, verifies drawing are completed and approved by engineering prior to sending to suppliers
* Negotiate with suppliers and prepares price comparison for final approval by management. Escalate negotiation strategy as required by corporate signature authorization matrix
* Prepare Purchase Order’s and forward to the suppliers for signature and formal acknowledgement
* Prepare and forward to all key suppliers open order reports on a regular basis. In addition, follow up and expedite deliveries as required to meet production schedules
* Update delivery dates in SAP according to company policy to ensure accurate supplier ratings
* Coordinates with Engineering and Supplier’s all Engineer Change Notices (ECN) activity’s
* Confirms receipt of items in SAP, monitors suppliers on-time delivery and quality ratings
* Accomplishes purchasing and organizational targets by completing related results as needed
* Resolves shipment and invoicing errors with suppliers and Accounts Payable
* Supports the Regional Buyer to create local commodity strategy for main commodities. Provides spend, reports and purchase order history data from SAP as requested by the Regional Buyer
* Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field; or equivalent, relevant work experience
* 5-8 years purchasing experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment
* 3-5 years direct buying experience; mechanical, electrical and assembly experience a plus
* Experience supporting SAP Purchasing functions
* Lean Manufacturing experience with ISM credentials preferred.
* Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
* Must possess “soft skills”: conflict resolution, personal effectiveness, creative problem solving, strategic thinking, team building, and influencing skills
* Strong Negotiator following the “Lowest Total Cost” model
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc…)
* Some local travel required as needed to support Business Unit and Regional Buyer
