Systems Technology Group (STG) has immediate opening for Active Safety Validation Engineer for our direct automotive client in Metro Detroit, MI. Duration (1+ year). Travel (minimal) as required.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible to validate Active Safety Systems and software used for testing. Work within a team to coordinate validation efforts for multiple features relating to responsible system.
- Perform integration bench level testing on multiple new safety critical features
- Create, manage and execute test plan
- Develop test methods and models to be able to test new safety critical components and features
- Automate test scripts and work with HIL setups to execute test procedures in a closed loop model environment
- Capture and analyze data to troubleshoot issues
- Generate and release testing reports
- Provide interface for team to other departments and suppliers
- Develop and lead test methods in this growing area
- Coordinate with test engineers at MPG testing active safety subsystems on vehicle to correlate data and split testing workload
- Travel (minimal) as required
Required Skills/Experience:
- 1 to 3 years’ experience in job-related area
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- High level of organizational skills - Able to manage multiple projects across multiple programs.
- Able to work within a team of engineers and communicate issues and testing results effectively
- Ability to act as a single voice for bench level testing for assigned subsystems
- Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
- Familiarity with LAN or CAN based communication
- High level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
- High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
- Knowledge of safety critical software and systems
Preferred
- Proficient in the use of Matlab, Simulink, Control Desk, DSpace ASM
- Knowledge of Hardware in the loop testing
- Proficient in the use of CAN tools (CANoE, Vehicle Spy, Vbox, Rt 3000)
- Previous subsystem testing experience in automotive.
- Valid Driver’s license and ability to drive vehicles due to contractual arrangements
Required Education/Training:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering
