Job Duties:
- Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches.
- Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three-and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.
- Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
- · Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Mount attachments or tools onto production equipment.
- Mount materials or work pieces onto production equipment.
- Install mechanical components in production equipment.
- · Transfer commands from servers to computer numerical control (CNC) modules, using computer network links.
- Enter commands, instructions, or specifications into equipment.
- Listen to machines during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machine to compensate for problems.
- Watch operating equipment to detect malfunctions.
- Remove and replace dull cutting tools.
- Remove accessories, tools, or other parts from equipment.
- Replace worn equipment components.
- Perform quality inspections of parts.
- Write simple programs for computer- controlled machines tools.
- Program equipment to perform production tasks.
- Clean machines, tooling, or parts, using solvents or solutions and rags.
- · Must be able to work in other areas of the shop as needed.
- Other duties as directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Candidate must have a good understanding of CNC machining.
- Candidate must be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Candidate must have the ability to read blueprints.
- Candidate must be able to work in other areas of the shop as needed.
- Candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Work overtime when approved and scheduled by your supervisor.
Experience:
- At least 2 years of proven operation of CNC mills.
- Experience with Hass Mills is a plus.
- Experience in uploading and downloading of programs is a plus.
- Experience in Vertical Mills is a plus.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Degree preferred .
- National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) certificate is a plus.
Hours:
1st shift 7:00am - 3:10pm M-F
2nd shift: 3:00pm-11:10pm M-F
