The Senior Employee Development Consultant-Lead for Electric Technical Skills Training is responsible for supervising a team of instructors to deliver on specific performance goals and to support the implementation of the Learning and Development strategy. This position is responsible for actively participating in the learning community to increase consistency in Consumers Energy training practices and increase the effectiveness of the learning function. The selected individual will pro-actively manage internal resources, creatively plan and execute training events and performance initiatives within Consumers Energy that reflect and balance those priorities and resources.
The position will be located at Marshall Training Center in Marshall, Michigan. The position will be filled as a Senior Employee Development Consultant Lead.
Travel can be expected up to 25% of the time for this position.
Responsibilities
•Regularly assess instructors effectiveness in the delivery of instruction through classroom observations both in-person and virtually and provide constructive feedback on performance.
•Deliver training in multiple formats including: Classroom delivery, technology assisted, and as a business support resource. Approximately 25% of time will be spent in delivering training, 75% on lead responsibilities.
•Create development plans for instructors to drive performance enhancement.
•Manage the effectiveness and efficiency of the delivery and evaluation strategy around instruction.
•Ensure support of Consumers Energy's learning management system and other tracking and delivery tools.
•Proactively identify learning opportunities in support of business objectives and performance goals.
•Generate relevant options for addressing problems/opportunities and achieving desired outcomes. Challenge paradigms and look for innovative alternatives.
•Concisely and regularly communicate learning and performance results to key stakeholders; solicit and act on feedback from Consumers Energy stakeholders.
•Educate Consumers Energy stakeholders on relevant learning and performance topics, such as adult learning theory, delivery and assessment methods and performance management.
•Complete and submit monthly report to manager, detailing monthly progress toward scorecard items and other relevant activities.
•Periodically observe or work alongside front line staff to ensure subject matter expertise is maintained.
•Effectively evaluate the programs being delivered, working in collaboration with the instructional design team on improvements.
Requirements
•Bachelor's Degree in applicable field of study. Less than a Bachelor's degree may be acceptable if accompanied by extensive industry experience in positions that demonstrate required abilities and performance.
•2+ years of experience in an instructor role
•2+ years of experience in a supervisor or leadership role
