Automotive parts manufacturing company in Taylor, MI is in need of a Maintenance Technician.
The main missions of the role are to:
- Install, repair and maintain all equipment and facilities
- Perform minor repairs to building fixtures, perform minor plumbing repairs, clean electrical fixtures, replace bulbs and do painting
- Analyze mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality
- Try out equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime
- Record operational data, such as pressure readings, length of stroke, feeds and speeds for use in set-up and preventive maintenance records
- Review production schedule and, when equipment is not scheduled for production, perform scheduled maintenance
- Propose and implement continuous productivity and quality improvement actions for all facilities and process efficiency
- Give advice on technical specifications of a new equipment and alterations on existing equipment and facilities, making sure manufacturing, Health, Safety and Environment and maintainability requirements are met
- Set up requisition for supplies, equipment and facilities
- Participate in the management of the inventory of spare parts and consumables to eliminate downtime
- Keep up to date documentation related to maintenance
- Train operators on the safe operation of production equipment
- Maintain clean and sate working environment in line with company policy
- Adhere to all work rules and procedures Additional responsibilities include
- Clean / paint equipment, clean / seal floors, paint lines around equipment when line is down or when assigned
- Actively participate in work teams
- Implement at least two improvement idea per month
- Dispatch trouble calls when required
- Other duties as requested
Job Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications:
- Technical diploma and/or journey man card
- At least 3 years of maintenance/engineering experience within a fast paced manufacturing environment
- Perform tasks of substantial variety/complexity which require an extensive knowledge of fabrication/processing techniques, tools, materials, machines and equipment
- Electrical wiring and mechanical skills
- Working knowledge of Quality systems and Health, Safety and Environmental skills
- Strong technical problem solving skills
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Satisfactory company work record, including attendance
- Successful completion of in-house training program
- Ability to follow instruction verbal and written - good math, language and reading skills required
- Good communication skills demonstrated by the ability to communicate with employees of all levels
- Forklift/Scissor Lift/Boom certification – successful completion of Taylor certification trainings
- Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team and in a positive manner
- Valid drivers’ license
Physical Requirements:
- Job involves lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, exerts 25 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and exerts 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Requires pushing, pulling, reaching, standing, walking, gripping and bending
- High mental and visual effort required
- Work involves considerable bending and twisting
- Able and willing to work overtime when required
Safety:
- Steel toed shoes required in production area at all times due to physical hazards from moving equipment, machine parts and product
- ANSI Z87.1 standard safety glasses required in production area due to dust, oils and debris
- Ear protection required in production area due to high noise levels from machines
- May be Exposed to flying objects such as weld slag and sparks
- Bump camps required in production area to reduce risk of head injury
- May be exposed to weld fumes and dust
- Exposed to moderate burns, cuts and bruises
- Exposed to significant temperature changes in the facility – (heat in the summer / cold in the winter)
