Northwoods Forestry Inc. is looking to fill 60 Forestry Worker positions. Work site(s): Begin; Morganton, Burke County, NC 28655 @ $14.03/hr. Provided daily transportation to and from the worksite. Continue into States of KY, MI, NC, OH, VA. This is a temporary, full-time seasonal position from 02/01/2018 to 10/31/2018.
Duties: Digging holes to plant seedlings/trees, lifting and packing seedlings, brush cutting/clearing debris, maintain surrounding vegetation & other related Forestry Worker activities as per SOC/OES 45-4011 (onetonline.org).
Requirements: Must be 18 due to travel. Must show proof of legal authority to work in the U.S. Drug/Alcohol/Tobacco free work zone. Must walk substantially (up to 15 miles/day), also stoop, bend while carrying a pack (up to 50lbs) through rough terrain (non-trail). Must have 3 months verifiable Commercial Brushsaw/Chainsaw experience. No minimum educatopm requirement. All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform work described and must be available for the entire period specified and work throughout all areas of intended employment.
Terms & Conditions of Employment: $14.03/hr up to possible $20.53/hr. Overtime (OT) pay is $21.05/hr up to possible $30.80/hr. Wage may vary, dependent on experience. Possible daily/weekly hours: 8:00AM-4:30PM. 40+ (plus) hours to include lunch breaks. Scheulde is usually Monday through Friday. The wage(s) offered equal(s) or exceed(s) the highest of the prevailing wage or the Federal, State, or local minimum wage. Possible weekend/holiday work. Outdoors, exposed to weather; must be capable of doing physically strenuous labor for long hours, occasionally in extreme heat or cold. Variable weather conditions apply; hours may fluctuate, possible downtime and/or OT. OT not required. This employer will also comply with all applicable federal, state and local laws pertaining to overtime hours.
Transportation: Transportation and subsistence will be reimbursed (by check in 1st work week) for cost from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer, whether in the U.S. or abroad, to the place of employment.
Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker's reasonable costs of retum transportation and subsistence back home or to the place from which the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not retum due to subsequent employment with another employer. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $12.07 per day during travel to a maximum of $51 per day with receipts.
3/4ths Guarantee: The worker is guaranteed employment for a total number of work hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays of each 12-week period.
Tools, equipment & supplies: All work will be done with employer provided tools, supplies and equipment without charge or deposit.
Miscellaneous:Employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due. Wage paid every two weeks. All deductions required by law will be done by the employer. Optional housing available at no cost. Will reimburse the H-2B worker in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H-2B worker (not including passport).
