Service Coordinator needed 20 hours a week to join the team at a 100 unit apartment community in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Service Coordinators link residents with the services that allow them to improve their quality of life and remain independent. They must be able to work cooperatively as a member of the management team; with elder residents and other residents with disabilities. Requirements include: Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Social Work, Gerontology, or Public Health preferred. Demonstrated working knowledge of community services in the region, with particular knowledge of services that are provided for the population living within the community. Trained in the aging process, elder services, disability services, drug and alcohol abuse, and mental health issues. Awareness of eligibility requirements and procedures for applying for federal and state entitlement programs. Must be disciplined in documentation skills, possess good communication, writing, problem-solving and organizational skills in addition to strong advocacy capabilities. Must possess leadership abilities, and be a motivated self-starter. Must have computer experience; Microsoft Office/Outlook/Internet, etc. The ideal candidate would possess the ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries while treating others with kindness and compassion.
