ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. **This position requires one who is multi-task oriented and a team player. Is responsible for the daily operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) while maintaining and always looking for future improvements. May work alone on a shift.
Plant Operation:
1.) Operator must understand the complete flow process.
2.) Must be able to monitor analytical equipment, diagnose, and make chemical changes, as needed.
3.) Should have a basic knowledge of chemistry and biology with the ability to do minimal analytical lab work.
4.) Should be able to maintain and/or repair individual problems as needed. Maintenance of plumbing and electronic equipment is helpful.
5.) Must be able to compute and document information from process.
6.) Must be physically capable of climbing ladders up to 30 feet.
7.) Should be able to operate manual equipment such as pallet jacks and barrel drums, which may be required to move chemical drums weighing up to 750 lbs.
8.) Operate power equipment such as fork lifts and 5th wheel to jockey trailers, may be required.
Plant Safety: The operator will be responsible for compliance of safety requirements.
1.) Must be able to maintain a safe, clean, and healthy working condition at all times.
2.) Must be capable of following specific safety procedures and caring for various safety equipment, including self-contained breathing apparatus equipment.
3.) Must have an awareness of chemical safety and associated hazards.
Other responsibilities:
1.) Must have the ability to follow instructions with limited supervision
2.) Must have the ability to communicate questions and problems relating to plant operations back to the supervisor.
3.) Ability to be flexible. The work environment is constantly changing.
