Position: Special Education Paraprofessional
Location: Elementary Buildings
Reports to: Director of Special Education and Building Principal
Salary: Pursuant to the UAW Bargaining Agreement ($12.22 /hour)

Qualifications:
- Must meet NCLB requirements
- Must be Highly Qualified
- Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (equal to 60 semester hours); or
- Obtain an associate’s degree (or higher) or
- Pass formal state academic assessment test
- Successful experience with school-aged children
- Must pass a physical exam, when applicable
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Good attendance record
- Must be a good public relations person and have the ability to work and cooperate with others
- Ability to follow directions and work independently
- Required to successfully complete classes and/or training (when necessary) to maintain individual position
- Able to maintain flexible hours to adjust working time to students needs
- Ability to physically manage aggressive students
- Ability to perform gross motor activities, such as running, climbing and physical agility
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain positive attitude and atmosphere
- Must be available and able to perform duties of job position
- Must be willing to assist medically fragile students with minor procedures
- May involve assistance in toileting and diapering of students
- May require heavy lifting
- Successfully complete additional duties assigned by the teacher/administrator
- Cooperative and productive team member
- Provide classroom level supports, accommodations, visual schedules, and related tools.
