The mission of the work at D.A. Blodgett- St. John’s is clear: To help children and empower families by providing safety, advocacy, and support. The Chief Programs Officer, in partnership with the Executive Leadership team, stewards the company toward that mission. This role reports to the President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and leads the direct service divisions of the organization. The Chief Programs Officer (CPO) is responsible for program development, innovation, best practice, consumer outcomes and excellence, in balance with productivity and financial sustainability.
The CPO serves as a central strategist, working alongside the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to identify and articulate internal and external needs and opportunities in alignment with the organizational mission, vision, values, and strategic plan. This role is a high-visibility position and requires strong internal and external communication skills with the highest level of clinical and fiscal acumen, integrity, emotional intelligence, accountability, transparency, and professionalism.
The CPO works cooperatively and synergistically with the ELT to actualize exceptional outcomes for children and families while ensuring compliance with licensing rules, contractual and grant expectations, accreditation standards, and additional regulatory requirements.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in a relevant field such as social work, psychology, counseling, health administration, or related discipline. Minimum five years of high-level management experience in human and social services, preferably in some combination of child welfare, behavioral health, and children's residential treatment. Thorough understanding of the developmental needs and social, emotional, and behavioral challenges characteristic of children, adolescents, and families served. Excellent writing, speaking, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Willingness to flex schedule according to the needs of the agency and model a whatever-it-takes work ethic. Computer competency including above average proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic case management and clinical record systems.
