Position Overview:
TechSmith is seeking a Build/Release Engineer who will be responsible for implementing, maintaining and constantly improving the build eco-system and installer solutions for all TechSmith software products.
You, as the Build/Release Engineer, will contribute to the innovative technology strategy and roadmap for TechSmith products. Build/Release Engineering plays an integral role in implementing and executing product release processes. This role supports engineering by managing the source code management system, automating builds and regression testing, building tools and monitoring used in software deployments, and coordinating and pushing new releases to the production infrastructure.
As a Build/Release Engineer you'll use your strong technical ability to drive product releases across many different systems and teams. This role is highly collaborative with our development and product management teams. Responsibilities:
- Maintain and implement a build and release eco-system with stability, consistency, responsiveness and fault tolerance, for all TechSmith products and solutions that serves the needs of product teams internally, as well as TechSmith customers
- Design, develop, maintain and enhance our products’ installation/setup and deployment architectures. Identify and solve end-user problems concerning installers
- Collaborate with development teams in Build Engineering process. Share and promote best practices across teams, and within the Build Engineering team
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Background:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Experience with build and continuous integration systems
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals and software engineering principles and processes
- Self-motivated and able to collaborate with a diverse set of people from many disciplines
- Ability to lead when appropriate and step back when necessary to help teams through triages, issues, and hard decisions
- You must be legally authorized to work in the United States without an employer-sponsored petition for a visa, such as an H-1B visa. TechSmith does not intend to file any visa applications in connection with this opening.
Preferred Skills and Background:
- Experience with Windows desktop installer technologies: Microsoft Windows installer, WiX
- Experience with TeamCity, Git, Visual Studio, PowerShell
