The Entry Level Product Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing automatic transmission components and sub-systems. He/she will develop technical requirements for components and evaluate designs to the "engineering best practice" documents. The Engineer will develop DVP&R plans to validate design changes and oversee resourcing and supplier testing activities. He/she will support manufacturing on production related issues and generate and implement cost reduction ideas and will participate in warranty/cost reduction meetings and develop solutions for warranty issues. The Engineer will conduct root cause analysis of issues and identify the root cause and interface with transmission systems group to address GIMS issues, provide guidance and direction to suppliers through resourcing, process or sourcing changes, and development using the Forever Requirement (FR) system and work closely with design, CAE, Scientific Labs, SQA, P&S, manufacturing, vehicle synthesis, suppliers, etc. The ideal candidate must be able to manage multiple on-going projects and must be capable of working independently and in teams.
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an (ABET) accredited university
•Must have completed a Bachelors in Mechanical engineering by December of 2017
•Good understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals
•Technical career oriented, focus in automotive engineering
•Working knowledge of the following tools: Function model, DFMEA, DVP&R, PPAP systems
•Strong analytical capabilities; Capable of analyzing complex data and providing a clear summary
•Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills
•Strong verbal and written communications skills
•Ability to work independently and in teamsAbility to manage multiple on-going projects
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
•Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
•Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes including casting, forging, powder metals, machining, and assembly
•Familiarity with CAD and FEA software would be a benefit
•Electrical/electronic engineering knowledge
•Specialty course work in transmission and driveline related subjects with interest in (gear technology, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, etc.)
