Quality Engineer (Supplier Quality) - Automotive
Position Summary:
Reporting to site managers the Quality Engineer is responsible for coordinating suppliers and verifying quality standards in accordance with the requirements of their organization. You will actively participate in strategic development based on quality control plans. You will manage the supply chain, serve as liaison for suppliers, suggest quality and process improvements, and collaborate with other engineers in a team environment.
Additionally, you will discover gaps in a process with suppliers and implement root cause and corrective actions. You will increase quality reliability, use skills to do high level problem solving. More principal tasks will be to maintain accurate records, conduct capability assessments that validate and verify supplier qualifications, travel to assigned suppliers as required, and lead multiple projects to completion. You must manage process controls. In addition, you will measure readiness throughout the product development cycle. A bachelor's degree in engineering is required for this position. You must use your advanced analytical skills to find innovative solutions to quality-related issues. You must have strong communication skills to make progress reports and present their findings to the supervisor in their department.
Quality Engineer Tasks
- Keeping the customer updated with the necessary information (daily reports, protocols, statistics etc.)
- Report supplier performance and quality to management, and provide quality solutions
- Oversee projects start to finish, be hands on and proactive in finding quality issues
- Excellent problem solving skills, including experience preparing problem solving documents such as 8D's
- Assist in the development and implementation of supplier programs
- Recommend and Implement cost-effective corrective actions
- Maintain successful relationships with supplier, engineering, manufacturing, and other
- Supporting and coordinating the PPAP process
- Preparing management reports based on customer expectations (main quality KPIs)
- Preparing the work instruction and its related documents and approving the work instructions
- Clarification of the technical details and customer requirements of a new mission/project
- Project management skills and High Level Organization skills required
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Project
- Proven track record of creating error free and detailed work instructions required
- Ability to multi-task and change responsibilities as needed
- Strong Knowledge of Automotive core tools is a must
- Fulfilling other demands coming from the customer
- Ensuring the continuous availability on site
- Six Sigma Methodology a bonus
- Travel may be required (minimum 50%)
- Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills; both written and verbal
Experience:
- 5+ years manufacturing experience
- Minimum 3 years Quality experience (Automotive)
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Required
