Job Description
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, assesses client s current level of mobility and teaches travel skills modified to individual s physical and emotional needs. Assesses client s current methods of travel and sets realistic goals with him/her regarding independent mobility. Introduces and teaches cane use, tailored to client s residual vision. Teaches client essential safety techniques for one traveling with impaired vision. Teaches client to use public transportation or alternatives when appropriate. Produces written and verbal reports for referring agencies. Introduces use of low-vision aids helpful in travel when appropriate for students. Assists clients in search for appropriate career possibilities through various internet resources. Attends staff meetings to share pertinent information and explore different ideas of ways to assist patients. [BRASSRING IMPORT 10/25/16]
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor s degree in Orientation & Mobility or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience. 2. One year of related experience teaching orientation and mobility. [BRASSRING IMPORT 10/25/16]
