This position is for a Mechanical Engineer, who will be responsible for using multidisciplinary engineering knowledge to design and develop innovative medical devices or components/subsystems in support of Company’s strategic plan. Will be responsible for the design of new products in a product development group. Creating new design solutions, modify existing assembly structures, creating and testing bench feasibility and all documentation required for the design of complex medical devices. Experienced mechanical engineer that is familiar with part and mechanism design, materials/process selection and tolerance analysis. This position will require the use of simulation tools and MCAD expertise to design reliable and manufacturable solutions. This position also requires problem solving skills, bringing knowledge, tools and methodologies to help solve technical issues. You will be expected to manage your tasks and be part of a larger cross functional team. We are looking for a self driven, detailed engineer that can mentor associates, sharing knowledge of what is required to design a redundant reliable system. This job will include the creation of design records and Bills of Materials that are needed to satisfy procedures that are followed for creating a medical product.
1. In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures. 2. Execute project tasks according to project plan. 3. Utilize engineering skills to solve engineering problems at the component through system level. Conduct testing utilizing existing test protocols or develop new ones as needed. 4. Apply engineering knowledge to the design and development of new products as well as product changes and enhancements. 5. Work with other functional areas within Terumo CVS to coordinate introduction of new products and improvements of existing products/processes. 6. Contribute to the intellectual property position of the Company via invention and patent applications, and documentation in technical notebooks. 7. Develop and maintain knowledge of medical device industry, including understanding of current technologies and trends, through actions such as professional memberships, attendance at conferences and/or seminars, subscription to trade magazines, etc. 8. Work with outside suppliers and consultants as required. 9. Gather, track, and analyze data for meetings etc., as required. 10. Maintain accurate documentation of concepts, designs, drawings, and lab notebooks. 11. Develop an awareness of current patent and journal literature in areas of responsibility. 12. Develop knowledge and understanding of products, customers, and customer needs of Company. 13. Perform other duties as assigned.
