Sanford, located in the Heritage Hill Historic District of Grand Rapids, Michigan, is seeking a full-time Residential Support Specialist for our Cherry St. Women's House, preferably with a background with substance use disorders.
This is a 3rd shift position working 30 hours/week.
Role and Responsibilities
- Independently manages a community setting of clients.
- Encourages residents’ participation in varied recreational, cultural and spiritual activities.
- Administers medication as prescribed by physician in accordance with medical procedures.
- Provides transportation for residents’ needs, as necessary, including 12 step meetings, recreational activities, and other care during residential shift hours.
- Assists with conflict resolution among clients and be prepared to intervene as required.
- Performs housekeeping duties, as directed by House Manager.
- Conducts hourly safety checks on clients during sleeping hours.
- Facilitates groups with clients and enters individualized notes on the EMR.
- Attends trainings and staff meetings as assigned.
- Maintains safety drills and documentation.
- Prepares critical incident reports as needed.
- At all times, observes and respects client’s individual rights and confidentiality.
- Maintains competency in policy rules and regulations, health and safety requirements, and adheres to Sanford house’s personnel code of ethics.
- Provides transportation for residents’ needs, as appropriate. Assists in scheduling appointments for clients and transportation as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or higher education.
- Unrestricted Driver’s License.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Experience in the field of substance abuse disorders.
- Attention to detail and efficient time-management skills.
- Good communication skills, self-motivation, good leadership potential, knowledge of case management, and good decision-making ability.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality on all client records and business-related records, as required under HIPAA guidelines.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to seize, hold, grasp, turn or otherwise work with your hand or hands.?
- Must be able to perceive sound by ear to interpret oral information from employees or others accurately or quickly.?
- Work will be performed in an office environment with fluctuating temperatures.?
- Capable of monitoring the facility and grounds, including the ability to ambulate up and down stairs.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
- Must be able to seize, hold, grasp, turn or otherwise work with your hand or hands.?
