TITLE: STAFF TECHNOLOGIST I
Department: Radiology
Reports to: Radiology Manager or Director of Diagnostic Imaging
Supervises: No one
Job Summary:
Responsible for the operation of diagnostic radiology equipment for the performance of all radiological procedures, excluding angiography, at a technical level not requiring direct supervision.
Essential Functions:
Operates diagnostic radiology equipment.
Completes double identification on all patients prior to the procedure
Greets customers professionally using AIDET, and BAMC’s standards of care, strong phone etiquette
Performs all radiological examinations including fluoroscopy.
Must be proficient in the operation of various radiological equipment that includes portables and stationary x-ray equipment in addition to the operation of digital equipment and retrieving, displaying and printing hard copy film from those cases that are acquired in a digital mode.
Identifies each patient, reviews each patient’s chart for consistency (examination ordered, clinical diagnosis) and records pertinent data on requisition.
Reviews each examination for technical accuracy: presents completed examination to radiologist or interpreting physician.
Assesses patient condition, ensures patient safety through proper use of restraint/support devices.
Positions and transports patients as comfortable as possible.
Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images and ensures proper identification on all images. (To include Right –Vs- Left and sequential film numbering).
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient ranging from newborn to geriatric.
Performs proper computer skills to include all appropriate edits, status changes, charges, and any other process necessary for proper patient charges.
Performs examinations in an accurate and timely manner.
Participates in the orientation and training of new employees.
Follows established department policies/procedures, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Participates in department quality assurance programs.
Enhances self-growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
Participates in own performance appraisal by identifying goals and reviewing progress with supervisor.
Firm understanding or PAC’s iSite ,iSuite, (View studies; modify studies, correct exceptions, burn CD’s and load exams in the PAC’s.)
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with federal and state legal regulations and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) requirements
Must be able to complete the physical, sensory and mental requirements of the position.
Additional Responsibilities:
Must be willing to rotate weekends, holidays and call schedule. Additional duties may be assigned by Manager of Radiology and/or Director of Diagnostic Imaging.
Qualifications:
A graduate of an accredited radiological training program recognized by JRCERT. The State of Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services licensure for Radiographer required and registered with the ARRT. Required BCLS within 6 months of hire.
Working Conditions:
Potential exposure to Latex products, radiation sources, blood borne pathogens, hazardous materials, and communicable diseases. Subject to potential electrical and radiation energy hazards.
