Examine existing procedures or opportunities for streamlining activities to meet product distribution needs. Direct the movement, storage, or processing of inventory.Key Responsibilities
•Lead with supply chain planners/schedulers to forecast demand or create supply plans that ensure availability of materials or products, including the management of activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, inventory control, warehousing, or receiving.
•Develop uniform material management and scheduling systems to improve inventory turns and manufacturing efficiencies.
•Monitor forecasts and quotas to identify changes or to determine their effect on supply chain activities.
•Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors, such as product cost or quality.
•Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service.
•Develop procedures for coordination of supply chain management with other functional areas, such as sales, marketing, finance, production, or quality assurance.
•Oversee the negotiation of prices and terms with suppliers, vendors, or freight forwarders, participating in critical negotiations.
•Review analysis of supplier performance or program success and meet with suppliers to discuss performance metrics, to provide performance feedback, or to discuss production forecasts or changes.
•Oversee the selection of transportation routes to maximize economy by combining shipments or consolidating warehousing and distribution.
•Implement new or improved supply chain processes that support the Company's environmental policies, leveraging Apogee's supply chain initiatives.
•Design or implement supply chains that support business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies.
•Participate in the coordination of engineering changes, product line extensions, or new product launches to ensure orderly and timely transitions in material or production flow.
•Analyze information about supplier performance or procurement program success.
•Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, operations and finance to identify or qualify new suppliers.
•Develop or implement procedures or systems to evaluate or select suppliers.
•Document physical supply chain processes, such as workflows, cycle times, position responsibilities, or system flows.
•Develop material costs forecasts or standard cost lists.
•Appraise vendor manufacturing ability through on-site visits and measurements.
•Oversee and support the design, implementation, product take back or reverse logistics programs to ensure products are recycled, reused, or responsibly disposed.
•Evaluate and select information or other technology solutions to improve tracking and reporting of materials, products distribution, supply chain processes, or inventory.
•Responsible for the performance management and development of subordinates to optimize their performance and professional growth..Position Requirements
•Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or similar. M.A. preferred.
•Minimum 5 years supply chain leadership experience in a manufacturing environment and minimum 10 years materials experience
•Experience with Lean, ERP/MRP and Strategy Deployment
•Experience leading or facilitating Problem Solving, Kaizen, 5S, Standardized Work, Visual Management
•Proven track record to improve cash flow and working capital management
•Strong knowledge of advanced manufacturing tools such as MRP, Just-In-Time (JIT), Plan For Every Part (PFEP), Kanban, Level Scheduling
•Excellent communication and negotiation skills
•Proficient with Microsoft office products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
•Willingness to regularly travel between the production facilities. 30% Travel expected.
