Summary of Job Responsibilities: Responsible for the safe operation of plant equipment and systems, to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company.
This will be a 2nd shift position, with training being done on 1st shift. Need to be available for overtime, including extended shifts and weekends.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that employees have the proper tools to perform their jobs, such as paperwork.
- Fill out the sign in sheet of the topic for the day and ensure that everyone signs in.
- Conduct safety meetings. Ask the employees if they have any safety concerns.
- Go over metrics board from the previous day’s run with employees before the line starts. Be sure to go over some of the reasons for production down time and how we can improve.
- Go over the schedule reminding employees that this is their goal. Give them a back up plan (change lines, clean up, or rework.) Be clear as to what you expect from them and who, and if not all, the projects that they will be working on if the line goes down. Be ready for any problems that might arise. Plan ahead.
- Confirm settings, dates, packaging, vacuum, speed of line. Adjust as needed as soon as line is up and running.
- Plan some production time for rework throughout the day or at the end of the day.
- Communicates directly with the Warehouse to ensure that there are enough bodies, ends, film etc.
- Communicates directly with the Maintenance Department to coordinate repair work in process areas, help them if needed, finding out how long things will be down, writing out work order, etc.
- Ensures that production line personnel are adequately trained, equipped and motivated so that the line production can be accomplished in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner.
- Communicates regularly with all production line personnel, both individually and as a group, to ensure good two-way communication concerning production issues.
- Conducts employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine goal achievement, competency, knowledge, and contribution of the production personnel.
- Monitors operations of plant equipment and systems.
- Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems constantly to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Maintains safety, health and environmental policies and procedures for production crew.
- Coordinates activities with Plant Maintenance, Quality and Warehouse Departments.
HS Diploma/GED required. Need to be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
