Material Planner

Company is a Tier 1 supplier that designs and manufactures electrical and electronic components for the automotive industry.
Pay rate: Up to $31/hr depending on experience
POSITION SUMMARY
Manage inventory availability to meet customer release requirements by analyzing demand, planning and placing affiliate orders, monitoring incoming material status and initiating actions to maintain customer supply flow. Manage all extraordinary expense risk related to this activity.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Degree Requirements:
Bachelors degree Materials and Logistics Mgmt OR equivalent experience required
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook
3 + years experience in Material Planning in automotive manufacturing setting
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support Customer demand shortage through critical path reviews
Support Sales and Operations Planning activities with affiliate and program team
Support Balance out planning and coordination
Ensure timely response to affiliate communications
When necessary, provide assistance for carlines other than their own
Work on special projects or assignments as needed
Primary window to manufacturing and the customer(s) on all product delivery related issues
Support data collection, analysis, and corrective actions implemented for team metrics
Support the development and implementation of effective, efficient, and common processes, procedures, and methodologies
Participate in program activities toward issue resolution (i.e., root cause analysis, preventive and corrective actions development, and verification that corrective actions are effective)
Part and Inventory Management
Report potential obsolescence as required
Complete finished goods part setup in procurement system
Ensure customer requirements are received, analyzed and processed as expected from all sources including customer systems
Monitor the arrival and decide prioritization of inbound shipments with transportation department
Coordinate expedited orders with transportation and manufacturing affiliates as necessary
Determine cost responsibility of extraordinary costs and submit appropriate back up to business unit management as well as business unit extraordinary costs specialists if applicable
Complete appropriate S/R (shipping release) to each affiliate weekly or as required
Responsible to manage inventory on-hand volumes to minimize obsolescence as it relates to Program Model Year Balance Out, engineering change or service requirement
Ensure extraordinary expense tracking matrix are updated and maintained as required (i.e. Air Chart, etc)
Communicate efficiently and timely with customer
Provide commitment timing and/or detailed support plans for delivery when required, including Root Cause analysis and/or other containment actions and documentation required by business unit and/or customer
Support customer Launch, Shortage, Prototype PAT, Supplier Readiness and High-Impact supplier meetings when required
Communicate transportation requirements such as delivery points, airfreight, expedites, hand carries, charters, etc. and associated costs in support of customer deliverables
Provide customer schedule and delivery information, including specific requirements (if any) to the distribution center(s)
Issue Fabrication authorization to manufacturing according to the build and delivery requirements for each Prototype and/or Pre-production build phase as required
Monitor and track status of Prototype/Pre-production builds at manufacturing through each build phase to insure customer deliverables are met
Review rework options when needed
Monitor affiliate delivery performance.
Complete plant loads when required.
Travel Requirements: Domestic and foreign travel
On Call Requirements: Evenings and Weekends as needed
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
