Starting salary is dependent on education, directly related experience and internal equity. After completing the second probationary semester, the potential exists to earn additional compensation by teaching overload and spring/summer sessions. This additional compensation varies based on several factors, including educational level and step. For example, a faculty member with a Master's degree at Step 0 who teaches 10 hours of overload during the fall and winter semesters would earn an additional $18,000. Purpose, Scope & Dimension of Job: Faculty facilitate student learning and initiate and participate in efforts to consistently improve the level of student success. As learning facilitators, faculty consistently assess learning outcomes and their own teaching effectiveness (pedagogy). As professionals, faculty adhere to the ethical standards of their profession as outlined, for example, by the NEA and the State of Michigan. Where applicable, faculty maintain licensure and certifications. Specific Teaching Assignment:Faculty member will be responsible for teaching classes in Welding. Minimum Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.1.Bachelor's Degree in Welding, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Applied Technology, Industrial/Technical, Engineering or a related field. (Related fields must include 30 credit hours of Welding coursework.)a.OR Bachelor's Degree with a Welding/Manufacturing related Associate's Degree b.OR Bachelor's Degree with 30 credit hours in Welding/Manufacturing related coursesc.OR Bachelor's Degree and advanced professional credential as a Welding Journeyperson or AWS Certified Welding Inspector. d.OR Associate's Degree in the field and 10 years (full-time equivalency) of practical experience in the welding field and an advanced credential as a Welding Journeyperson or AWS Certified Welding Inspector. (If you do not have a Bachelor's Degree, than you must be willing to enroll and make continuous progress toward the completion of a Bachelor's degree within 5 years.)e.Bachelor's Degree must be from an accredited institution.*2.Two (2) years of (full-time equivalency) practical experience needed in welding. 3.Work experience is needed in welding in the courses that are taught.4.AWS certifications in the courses being taught.
