Federal-Mogul's Powertrain Division is looking for a General Ledger Accountant that will process accounting transactions in our accounting system, according to established policies and procedures in an efficient, timely and accurate manner. In addition, he/she will ensure timely and accurate booking of GL entries in our general ledger system, analyze/review general ledger postings for accuracy and reasonableness, and perform month-end activities. This person will become a valued member of our Finance Department, where we strive to promote from within wherever possible; therefore, opportunities for advancement are strong.
An ideal candidate for this position is a candidate who possesses an Associates degree in Accounting/Business, however a Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred, and has proven professional experience in an accounting environment. Strong knowledge of Knowledge of SAP and/or PLEX and Excel skills at an intermediate level are necessary qualifications for this position. •Ensure timely and accurate booking of GL entries in general ledger system
•Analyze and review general ledger postings for accuracy and reasonableness
•Perform month-end activities as required for reporting (opening/closing of GL modules, inter-company reconciliations, currency revaluations, uploads of GL results into One Stream, etc.) within the published close schedule
•Prepare balance sheet and bank reconciliations, with supporting documentation according to standards and within the required timeframe
•Follow-up of disputed/long-outstanding items to ensure integrity of the balance sheet
•Maintain up-to-date procedure documents to satisfy Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
•Support internal/external audit and Internal Control Office requests
•Respond to location inquiriesREQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
Associates degree with Accounting/Business focus. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred. Ability to speak another language is a plus.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
•Prior accounting experience preferred
•Knowledge of SAP and/or PLEX is a plus
•
Strong Excel skills at the Intermediate level (pivot tables, vlookups, formulas)
•Effective communication skills (verbal, listening and written)
•Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills
•Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
•Thorough knowledge and understanding of USGAAP accounting (Trial Balance - P&L/Balance Sheet)
•High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality
