Tubelite Inc. also cares for our environment including providing LEED energy efficiency credits, recycling of raw materials and finishes that are applied using environmentally friendly processes.General Position DescriptionThe Structural Engineer determines the suitability of architectural aluminum products used in commercial applications. The Structural Engineer plans and conducts independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. The Engineer will devise new approaches to problems; prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs; and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, and accepted engineering practices at Tubelite. Principle Duties and Accountabilities:
•Provides technical support to external clients, architects and vendors as well as internal clients (estimating, order entry, manufacturing, marketing, sales and purchasing)
•Reviews projects for proper application and engineering of Tubelite systems and products to meet or exceed performance requirements as outlined in published specifications for the project
•Addresses client questions and concerns regarding system application, design fabrication and installation
•Creates job specific detail drawings for clients and architects
•Identifies needs and drives activities in product and application research, analysis, validation and testing
•Builds samples as needed to check for potential problems and test solutions
•Provides written reports documenting recommendations and summarizing results of analysis and testing Requirements:
•Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Civil Engineering (BSCE), or equivalent experience
•Proficient using 2D CAD design and analysis software
•Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Proficient in the use of Microsoft software (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
•Proficient using small hand tools and small precision measuring instruments Requirements, Preferred
•Experience with 3D AutoCAD, Mechanical Desktop, Inventor and C-Beam or other structural software
•Familiar with Architectural /Construction trades
