Job Description
Responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing mechanical systems and equipment in the plant, within applicable standards and codes; maintaining and repairing heavy mobile equipment. Leads Maintenance Tech Level I personnel and Operations personnel in performing equipment maintenance. In addition, this position may work under the technical direction of an IC&E technician as required when they are making repairs to large electrical equipment.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
•Installs, maintains and repairs mechanical systems and equipment utilizing skills in welding, pipefitting, plumbing, mill righting and machinery.
•Directs activities of Maintenance Tech I as necessary to support the overall plant operation.
•Performs Supervisor duties in his/her absence.
•Troubleshoots and isolates mechanical problems; implements corrective actions, as appropriate.
•Reads and interprets plans, diagrams and specifications.
•Maintains and repairs heavy mobile equipment.
•Plans and lays out work in accordance with applicable standards and codes.
•Provides estimates of time and material required; requisitions tools and supplies in accordance with established procedures.
•Prepares and maintains documentation and reports, as required.
•Performs basic carpentry work, small engine and tool repair, as required.
•Recommends changes to improve efficiency and/or quality of mechanical operations, as appropriate.
•Maintains a safe work environment through job planning and identification and correction of hazards and adherence to plant safety rules and procedures.
•Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
•Performs other comparable and related duties, as assigned.
•Performs routine vibration monitoring of rotating equipment.
•Assists operations in times of plant upsets or trips.
Requirements
•High School Diploma or GED
•2+ years of experience as a Maintenance tech or related industry experience
The following skills and experience will set you apart from others:
•Demonstrates ability to read and understand mechanical piping drawings, equipment assembly drawings, technical manuals and blueprints.
•Demonstrates skill to perform basic welding and cutting.
•Thorough knowledge of equipment operations systems and maintenance procedures.
•Basic computer skills.
•Ability to provide clear direction and performance feedback to Maintenance Tech I's, as well as, effectively communicate with and take direction from other plant personnel/supervisors.
•Capable of using analytical judgment to plan and perform diversified work, making decisions within the prescribed limitations.
•Ability to work overtime, as well as, any shift schedule, including nights and weekends.
