Job Title: Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavior Therapy Intern
Department: Trauma Focused – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Reports To: TF-CBT Supervisor
The TF-CBT Intern will work under the direct supervision of the TFCBT Supervisor and TF-CBT Team Lead providing home-based Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to children ages 4-17 and their parents in the Kent County area. The TF-CBT Intern works as part of a collaborative team to serve children who have experienced trauma by helping them develop coping skills and narrate their story for the purpose of healing and moving forward from trauma. This is done through the evidenced based TF-CBT model with a high degree of fidelity to the model. Trauma histories include but are not limited to sexual and physical abuse, neglect, injury, traumatic grief, witness to substance use, and domestic violence. Clients present with moderate behavioral symptoms such as depression, anxiety, truancy, self-harm- and some delinquency.
Qualifications: Education requirements are working towards a Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field along with seeking trauma certification.Knowledge of differing lifestyles and cultures, experience or training with working with children or adults, a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of child development, knowledge of common childhood diagnoses, and basic clinical skills. A basic understanding of trauma. Have afternoon and early evening hours in order to accommodate children and family schedules.
