Essential Functions:
- Provide subject matter expertise for EDI integrations to customer support teams, suppliers, strategic alliances and other IT teams
- Analyze business requirements for inbound and outbound EDI and develops functional specifications that leverage automation and self service
- Recommend and implement methods to automate EDI testing
- Advise the team on how to best create data translation and transformations, ability to lead by example technically
- Provide direction for the team on how to resolve root cause issues in a multi-vendor, multi-provider and multi-component environment
- Continuously improve EDI Infrastructure and technology (workflow, translation, monitoring, upgrades)
- Understand and maintain current knowledge of EDI standards and ensure that company conforms to electronic trading standards for the industry
- Benchmark processes – evaluate areas of opportunity, identify process gaps, and create plans to achieve increased performance, productivity and effectiveness in services provided
- Maintains regular contact with other teams in IT to ensure we’re partnering where appropriate and influencing to create the most effective integrations
- On call required as part of a rotating team schedule
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Development experience with creating 204, 210, 810, 820, 823, 832, 834, 850, 990, 997 and other standard EDI transactions
- Clear understanding & working knowledge of X12 standards
- Able to collect and understand complex EDI integration requirements and recommend the best implementation practices based on experience and knowledge of current trends
- Clear commitment to continuously learning how we can improve our existing processes and openness to applying concepts from multiple disciplines in order to achieve efficient, affordable integrations
- Creative and forward thinking as it relates to new ideas, additional reporting options, planning for new ways of integrating with trading partners, analysis of existing reports, etc.
- Computer science fundamentals, awareness of concepts like object oriented programming & version control.
- Ability to effectively interpret and analyze data
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong time management and task prioritization skills
- Good understanding of networked systems
- Must be well organized and results oriented
- Knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, email and internet software applications
- Background in mapping/development using tools like GXS or Extol
- SQL Development experience preferred
- Object oriented development experience preferred, such as Java, C++, C# (or equivalent language) to support & direct continuous improvement & automation
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of EDI experience within a manufacturing or distribution environment required with Bachelor’s Degree
- 7+ years of EDI experience within a manufacturing or distribution environment required without Bachelor’s Degree
- EDI communications experience required (Point to Point, VAN, AS2, FTP/SFTP)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or Computer Science is preferred
- In lieu of the specified education and experience requirements, a proven capability to perform the essential functions of the job, as demonstrated by an equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant work experience may be considered
