EE Product Engineer-Technical Cost Reduction (TCR) is responsible for planning, validating and implementing cost reduction projects and activities to meet annual vehicle material cost reduction business case targets of responsible areas. The Engineer works with EE and Uconnect design release areas plus vehicles teams, labs, purchasing, suppliers etc. to generate ideas, study feasibility, and execute design changes for cost reduction without compromise of quality and customer experience.
Development and release of electromechanical component - Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) - a module comprised of wiper switch, turn signal switch, clock spring and Steering Angle Sensor (SAS). Duties include management of supplier, module release activity (writing specifications, issuing engineering change notices, reviewing/approving FMEAs, DVP&Rs and PPAP), vehicle integration/testing, vehicle build support, issue trouble-shooting/resolution and quality improvements.
Basic Qualifications:
•BSEE or BSME (or equivalent) from an ABET accredited university
•Minimum 5 years of experience with 1 year design and release experience of automotive components
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Ability to effectively operate both independently and as part of a team
•Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite
•Logical thinker who can sort through complex problems in pursuit of a resolution
Preferred Qualifications:
•Prior experience in development/release of electro-mechanical components
•CAN/LIN Bus communication protocols and associated tools
