Hybrid Powertrain Engineer for Autonomous Vehicle Platform - 27068BR
DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Do you have skills that can be applied to Automotive Controls and Systems? Are you interested in development of electrified vehicle controls and systems engineering, especially as they are applied to an Autonomous Vehicle? The complexity of interactions to be handled and designed-in for an autonomous vehicle are staggering when one considers just how much a human driver really does and processes in operating a vehicle.
The Ford autonomous vehicles research and development team is looking for an Engineer with skills in Controls to provide the right interdisciplinary approach and means of research and design to enable the successful realization of Autonomous Vehicle systems, especially in the areas of propulsive controls, powertrains, and their systems. As such, we are further building out our ranks and competency. The engineer will be focused on defining functionality to meet customer needs and business targets early in the development cycle, developing and modeling system requirements and behaviors, managing the architecture and sets of interfaces, and proceeding with design synthesis and system validation while always considering the complete problem. While the tasks and responsibilities of the job are defined, successful candidates for these positions will possess a track record of being strong independent thinkers who deal well with ambiguity.
We are looking for an engineer with demonstrated experience in the designing and refining of Hybrid systems, including developing and managing their architectures and interfaces, performing optimizations, conducting trade studies, along with other similar design and analysis capabilities.
Job Responsibilities:
* Conduct research to develop autonomous vehicle platform and systems related to powertrain operating strategies, including automation of the underlying electrified vehicle platform and the functions that will optimize its efficiency, robustness, and performance
* Facilitate design of, specify, and the interfaces between the involved Ford element system (subsystem) teams
* Develop and produce Architecture and Optimizations of the Controls given attribute and behavioral expectations of use cases, performance targets, sensors and controls capabilities, attribute requirements, robustness, etc.
* Develop executable and descriptive behavioral models & requirements at multiple levels, including functional decomposition and requirements and interface definition
* Manage the cascade and negotiation of the above to/with responsible teams
* Develop physically and empirically based models/simulations to verify that proposed concepts and strategies meet the requirements
* Develop new or improve upon, model based design related processes and tools to further our engineering efficiency and capability
* Perform competitive analyses and maintain knowledge of emerging technologies in the automotive field
The distance between imagination and … creation. It can be measured in years of innovation, or in moments of brilliance. When you join the Ford team discover all the benefits, rewards and development opportunities you’d expect from a diverse global leader.
