DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Federal Mogul's Powertrain Division is looking for a Design/ Detailer that will be responsible for Independently performing machine and tool design and technical drawing tasks required to manufacture bearings, bushings and washers. This person will become a valued member of our Engineering Department where we strive to promote from within wherever possible; therefore, opportunities for advancement are strong. An ideal candidate for this position is a candidate who possesses an Associates Degree or high level of education in engineering, machine design, or tool and die development and experience working with design software. We are ready to act immediately on those candidates who are the best fit for the role. You'll first hear from someone in Human Resources to schedule a phone screen, and then the next step will be a personal interview with our Greenville Management team. Specific Duties:
•Designs, specifies and orders new tooling and machine details using standard design convention, tolerance and technical drawing standards as required in conventional tool and die or job shops.
•Utilizes technical data (i.e. Machinery's handbook, internet, vendor catalogs, etc.) to create robust designs. Has knowledge of screws, threads, materials, strength of materials, speed and feeds, correct fit, form and function of various design elements. Understanding of commonly used drafting and tolerance practices to facilitate correct interpretation of technical drawings.
•Generate and update technical drawings using a variety of techniques including but not limited to AutoCAD, Pro-Engineer and hand drawn prints.
•Self - verification of technical information (drawings, formulas, work instructions) with a goal of zero defects and 100% on time delivery of required technical information
•Maintain Greenville plant technical drawings and follow print identification standards to keep prints organized and available.
•Collaborates with other plant personnel in developing improvements in tooling, machining and material usage.
•Maintain bill of material and purchasing technical information in conjunction with designs/technical assistance duties.
•Maintain tool lists (routings) part and material structures using Federal-Mogul provided database systems.
•Match purchase orders with technical drawings and check for duplicate orders, missing orders and missing information. Correct errors as they are discovered.
•Assist management by generating reports, charts and general engineering data for future planning or specific engineering inquiries.
•Performs other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
•Associates degree in Engineering, machine design, or tool and die development or related field preferred. Equivalent experience in machine design or tool and die design required.
•3-5 years mechanical design experience preferred.
•Must be able to create technical drawings and be competent using AutoCAD and Creo Software.
•Knowledge of Microsoft office programs, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
•Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical control systems as well as the corresponding mechanical and electrical actuators.
•Basic understanding of materials and manufacturing techniques used to produce engine/transmission bearings, bushings and washers.
•Knowledge of tool steels and heat treating.
•Manage multiple projects using effective organizational skills.
