MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design Controls Algorithms for advanced steering systems such as Steer by Wire, Rear Wheel steering, or Steering and Brake/Suspension integration.
- Responsible for the design and analysis of the controls of Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) using electronic power steering systems and other vehicle actuators.
- Develop Intersection, Collision Avoidance, and Blind Zone ADAS functions
- Develop Steering and Vehicle Dynamic system models and perform simulation
- Develop motion planning/trajectory optimization algorithm for ADAS functions
- Develop Tracking Control schemes and Arbitrate controls residing in multiple controllers
- Incorporate and develop requirements for sensor fusion
- Provides technical leadership for projects incorporating complex electromechanical (“Mechatronic”) systems
- Effectively integrates all aspects of system design through the use of multi-disciplinary engineering
- Assist in tuning vehicle steering and other characteristics, diagnoses and corrects deficiencies in designs and prototypes
- Uses rapid prototyping tools for system development
- Interfaces simulation models of Steering and Vehicle systems
- Understands and creates system and subsystem specifications
- Stays abreast of new ADAS technology, sensors, path planning, etc
QUALIFICATIONS:
DEGREE: MASTERS
MAJOR: Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, emphasis in Control
Systems
- At least 1 year of relevant job experience (includes academic research)
- Strong programming and simulation skills (with Matlab/Simulink)
- Experienced in Frequency Domain design, PID and LQR/RHLQR algorithms or Model Predictive Controls (MPC)
- Familiar with and able to use optimization algorithm libraries
- Experience with ADAS sensors, camera (Machine Learning), radar, lidar, ultrasonic, etc is highly preferred
- General competency and experience in vehicle dynamics, mechanical systems, electronic systems.
- Experience with automatic embedded code generation tools such as the Mathworks toolsets (Real Time Workshop, Autocode Generation, Embedded Coder) is preferred
- Background in automotive engineering and chassis systems (steering, braking, suspension) is desirable
- Excellent problem solving techniques required
- Knowledge of system safety, Human Machine Interface (HMI), and Steering Feel (particularly Steering Feel) is a plus
- Good organization and documentation abilities required
- Understanding search based algorithm for path planning (A*, RRT, etc) is a plus
