Rapid-Line is an employee-owned metal fabrication and innovative manufacturing company in Wyoming, Michigan. We are currently interviewing for an Engineering /Quality Manager.
SUMMARY:
The Engineering & Quality Manager provides administration, coordination, planning and directing of all team members, projects and processes within the Engineering and Quality departments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide direction & coordination of engineering and quality resources to ensure the fulfillment of departmental goals, including definition of major areas of responsibility, coaching, interviewing, hiring, training & development requirements, planning, performance management, and reporting requirements. Manages the process of new product development. Program management experience with furniture, medical, DOD or automotive products and customers is a plus.
Lead the Engineering team in determining from the part drawing and other engineering data the most cost effective method for the fabrication and assembly of products. Product costing background is preferred. Ensures that drawings are correct before release to production. Ensures that job packages are complete and correct and supplied materials have been received before the job is released for production. Oversees bill of material creation and maintenance.
Lead the Quality Team to improve Customer Quality Metrics, Quality Systems, and documentation. Six Sigma certification is a plus. This position will coordinate the Quality processes, including: PPAP, FAI's, Control Plans, Process Capabilities, CAR's, NCR's. Experience with SPC, Six Sigma, DOE, CAPA, Lean Manufacturing and 5S's is required.
Sets the direction for continuous improvement projects for the Engineering and Quality Departments. Leads and coordinates programs for improving shop productivity. Experience with Kaizen methodology and past experience leading Kaizens is a plus. This position will be involved in the recommendation and purchase of new equipment.
Communicate with the Customer Service team and Sales team to ensure a smooth transition of products from their development into full production. Proven successful interaction with Customers is required.
Supports the manufacturing teams and provides assistance when necessary.
Effectively communicates company policies, rules, expectations, goals, and objectives to achieve effective company operations. Maintain an environment that promotes a cooperative morale through regularly scheduled meetings and day to day contact with employees.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a 4 year college or university.
10 years of proven experience in Engineering and/or Quality leadership.
