Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions:
Purpose: Delta College Corporate Services, the region’s leader in workforce training, has a team of Business Service Representatives placed at the Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! offices in Saginaw, Bay and Midland counties. The Business Service Representative will work directly with employers and be focused on provide outstanding customer service while promoting services of Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works!
Role: To form relationships with employers in the Great Lakes Bay Region Michigan Works and assist them in a way that makes them more profitable. Primary duty of this role is to serve in a salesforce capacity by establishing relationships and taking orders with businesses in the Great Lakes Bay Region for the purpose of providing employment and business services. Services are outlined, but not limited to mentioned services below.

Individuals serving in this role are expected to spend the majority of their work day out in the business community and away from the service centers of Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works.
Sales:
- Provide consultation and provide information to employers regarding all services available.
- Conduct presentations/public speaking at events and meetings as assigned.
- Develop contacts through visits and “cold calls” to businesses that do not currently use GLBMW! services.
- Communicate services of other partners to businesses.
- Take orders and sell services effectively and handle objections.
- Develop and update Recruitment Resource Package.
- Develop relationships with Michigan Works! partners to foster referral relationships for Business Services division of GLBMW.
- Maintain awareness of local business expansions, hiring, and economic trends.
- Conduct outreach to employers through attendance and or presentations at job/career fairs, business/agency/civic events, and individual business visits.
- Maintain partnership with local business organizations (Saginaw Future, Midland Tomorrow, Bay Economic Development Corporation).
- Attend business events (i.e. Chamber Meetings, VSHRM, Job/Business fairs, Economic Development meetings).
- Manage account territory.
- Develop employer relationships to lead to repeat business and referrals.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of employer outreach and activities in Customer Relationship Management system.
- Communicate/market employer training grant funding opportunities to eligible businesses.
Business Customer Service and Relations
- Open Pure Michigan Talent Connect Accounts.
- Trouble Shoot Accounts.
- Enter, Modify, & Deactivate Job Advertisements.
- Conduct Resume Searches and screen resumes per customer specifications.
- Write Job advertisements, offer tips on writing job advertisements for the internet (possibly for newspaper).
- Provide employer training/technical assistance of Pure Michigan Talent Connect features at businesses.
- Communicate with MWA and MEDC as appropriate regarding Pure MI Talent Connect.
- Schedule/coordinate Single Employer Job Fair and interview rooms.
- Provide labor market information.
- Conduct follow up customer service calls.
- Identify “difficult to fill” positions and skill gaps, and relay related information to the Business Services Manager.
- Discuss various workforce needs with employer customers, brainstorm possible solutions, and relay related information to the Business Services Manager.
- Assist employers applying for training grant funding with technical assistance in the application process.
- Provide employers funded with training grants with technical assistance throughout grant cycle to ensure timely and accurate grant oversight and close out.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree
- Evidence of intermediate skill level in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Minimum of three years experience in Sales, Business or Human Resources
