Ford Motor Company's Global Data, Insight, and Analytics (GDIA) organization is looking for motivated and talented individuals with a background in Operations Research/Analytics. This is an opportunity to apply the latest tools and methods in Big Data and Data Science to a variety of business problems at Ford. Recent projects in this group have led to the development of several applications in the areas of product strategy, capacity planning and plant scheduling.
The successful candidate will perform analytics and optimization work as a member of the Advanced Operational Analytics team in GDIA; develop optimization models to support Ford activities such as order generation, scheduling, logistics, supply chain optimization, and more; report results clearly and concisely.
Responsibilities:
* Communicate with business partners to understand the problems and translate high-level ideas into well-defined mathematical formulations
* Pinpoint which elements of sample datasets can be most effectively leveraged in optimization models and what potentially useful information may be missing
* Develop and implement mixed integer programming formulations and computationally efficient methods for obtaining optimal or near-optimal solutions
* Design and implement heuristic algorithms for obtaining feasible solutions quickly
* Develop complete system designs that include data, pre-processing, optimization, post-processing and interfaces for user interaction
* Effectively and frequently communicate with business customers. Ability to explain highly technical contents with non-technical people is a must
