For the Product Engineer position, Team Amigo is looking for an associate who can work a full time schedule, Monday-Friday, 7:00am-4:00pm, at our location in Bridgeport, Michigan. The goal of this position is to design quality battery operated electric vehicles for personal mobility, Test finished designs for quality and durability, and develop product improvements as necessary. This associate will also create and maintain experimental documentation including BOM’s, CAD models, drawings and testing. Responsibilities:
- Manage vehicle testing and formalize test documentation
- Provide layouts, drawings, BOMs and other essential project documentation of experimental developments and changes
- Develop experimental and prototype parts including follow-up and fabrication guidance
- Match components design and function to vendor and manufacturing process capabilities
- Assure that designs meet quality standards and validation test requirements
- Document projects and activities with dated, complete, but concise, easily understood documents.
- Utilize computer CAD system proficiently to generate engineering drawings. Develop a thorough CAD operating system knowledge
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of CAD drawing Standards
- Coordinate with Purchasing to identify appropriate sources for new products and cost reductions.
- Provide technical expertise to Purchasing and Quality control to answer supplier questions
- Assemble product components and POV prototypes
- Conduct accurate, quality and repeatable laboratory tests
- Document laboratory test set-up arrangements
Skills and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required
- Product Engineering experience preferred
- Ability to produce technical drawings and related documentation with a high level of accuracy
- Demonstrated proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, SolidWorks preferred
- Ability to use engineering principles to make sound product decisions and meet timelines
- Knowledge of product test validation testing processes
- Knowledge of mechanical design of parts to a particular manufacturing process
- Knowledge of machining, welding and bending of basic metals and alloys and plastics
- Fundamental knowledge of electronics and operation of Volt-Ohm meters
- Experience with engineering Bills of Material (BOMs)
- Computer skills in Microsoft excel and Word
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Desire to work as part of a team in a family owned business
- Project management experience is beneficial
- Ability to work with Purchasing and suppliers to control costs
- Must be able to work on multiple projects at the same time and set priorities
