Simulation Lab Test Technician - Vehicle Evaluation & Verification - 26393BR

The Vehicle Evaluations & Verification (VEV) Body & Chassis Test Department's (BCTD) Simulation Lab Test Technician conducts Full Vehicle, System and subsystem level signoff and performance testing. The test technician will be responsible for a variety of tasks such as: fabricating fixtures, setting up and performing tests, reviewing test data, implementing new test procedures, and maintaining, troubleshooting and coordinating repair of mechanical and electrical test equipment. Support Test Facility upgrade projects. The individual must possess strong problem solving skills, and understand the BCTD customer testing needs, as well as be able to work any shift as needed.
Responsibilities
* Complete test related duties as assigned during daily scheduling meetings. Execute work independently with quality and efficiency.
* Ability to run tests on all Simulation test stands
+ Test stands include: MTS 407/458 test controllers, MTS FlexTest, 7 Channel fuel tank rigs, Multi Axis Simulation Table (M.A.S.T.), Railcar / Haul away test stand, MTS 329 Simulator, MTS 6 Degree of Freedom Simulator, MTS 4 Poster, MTS Tire Test Stand and Mini Multi Axis Simulation Table.
+ Ability to receive parts and prepare for first run subsequent runs according to test matrices.
+ Ability to conduct test stand sample prep, fixturing, installation / removal, photographic documentation, test execution, data collection and review.
+ Ability to design, fabricate, track, locate and mount customized test fixturing utilizing CAD or Digital Buck prints.
+ Ability to run standard tests and support test engineers for unique one-off testing in a lab environment.
+ Ability to interpret, set-up, and run newly developed procedures in support of new programs.
+ Ability to run multiple test facilities simultaneously.
* Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of operational tools which include instrumentation, cabling, control equipment and test stand.
* Manage parts flow to and from Building 4 test facilities utilizing newly developed tracking system.
* Work with various requesting engineers to work out any discrepancies to the supplied test matrices.
* Will follow all SOP’s associated with tasks as well as EH&S.
* Responsible for maintaining all work area documentation including note logs, check sheets, sample inventory and fixtures
* Responsible for maintaining specific lab supplies.
* Help to identify and implement new tools, methods or procedures to improve quality, efficiency and timing. Provide feedback to or participate as a member of process improvement or facility project teams.
* Participate in training of new employees. Instruct and guide less experienced staff so that they fully understand and utilize standard procedures and work practices.
* Will meet all work place Health and Safety requirements and practices. Provide feedback and identify opportunities to improve work place conditions.
* Continually work to ensure customer satisfaction is maintained and proper data quality is achieved.
* Ability to work any shift
