Department Summary
The Revenue Operations department resides within the Customer Operations organization at Consumers Energy. This
department covers a broad range of disciplines to ensure operational performance in the areas of: Low Income
Assistance Programs, credit & collections, direct payment offices, damage claims, and bankruptcy & loss. The
department covers the lower peninsula of Michigan and provides service to our Consumer Energy's customers.
Job Description/Responsibilities
The Director of Revenue Operations demonstrates business, technical, project management and supervisory acumen
and directs multi-disciplinary teams, comprised of highly skilled professionals.
This position leads and directs the Corporation's Low Income Assistance team and programs through successful
development, implementation, and operationalization of innovative and sustainable products, programs, procedures, and
services aimed at our most vulnerable customers.
Establish and drive the departmental strategy and vision to achieve the breakthrough goals is a core responsibility.
The Director of Revenue Operations must also understand the multi-department nuances to effectively engage and
impact the integrated operational, strategic and resource planning while ensuring adherence to all laws and regulations
where applicable.
Requirements/Qualifications
10 years of applicable experience.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, IT, Engineering or related & the knowledge/capabilities typically acquired
through 10-plus years of job-relevant experience exhibiting a progressive work history.
The following experience / skills may set you apart from other applicants:
Masters or other advanced degree, ideally in a Business area.
Masters of Project Management and/or PMI-PMP Certified.
Proficiency with Workforce, Quality, and Performance Management.
Experience leading leaders and influencing across a matrixed organization.
Energy industry background that includes a working knowledge of Uncollectible Expense and Collections strategies.
Essential Functions:
Support the planning, business analysis, general management, budget preparations and analysis, negotiations,
transactions, customer services and auditing of a wide variety of business functions and processes of specific operating
and support areas throughout the Company. Duties and who this individual reports to will fluctuate between projects,
departments and offices. Lead and/or assist with business analysis and support for the plans, reports, impacts, contracts,
schedules, estimates, data collection, observations, and field investigations. Provide business analysis and support
services with accuracy, on time and under budget. Use computer assisted applications software and equipment to
prepare business analysis support documents. Understand and follow Company established standard procedures for file
structure and standard procedures for projects. Become familiar with business and department and Company plans and
related material for each project and be able to utilize the information appropriately. Assists in client contact and
communication. Utilize effective communication skills to answer inquiries from coworkers, clients, or the public. Public
involvement may include producing reports, graphics, presentations, and other visual material as well as occasional
speaking or meeting with stakeholders. Attend internal and external meetings. Provide business analysis and support
services in a legal and ethical manner.
Abides by, enforces and participates in the implementation and ongoing oversight of Company standards and regulations.
Works with customers, former customers and third party collection agencies in attempting to mitigate losses. Reviews
and analyzes customer's financial information, payment history and negotiates a structured workout that serves both
parties and results in a lower loss than the loss that would have been realized. Maintains extensive and up to date
knowledge with respect to various servicing guidelines, requirements and financial aid programs to help customers with
the payment of bills. Implements settlements which are in compliance with such guidelines at all times. Performs
disconnection of energy service in accordance with the billing practices and rules.
Hours and Travel:
This position requires the individual work 40 hours per week with 90% of time spent in the office or specific field locations.
