Department Summary
This position exists within the Gen Ops-Reservoir Integrity & Engineering Department and is based in Jackson, Michigan.
The Reservoir Integrity & Engineering group is responsible for the overall integrity and strategic planning for our 15 gas
storage reservoirs and surface facilities. Some travel is required throughout Michigan. This position will report directly to
the Gas Storage Operations Manager.
Job Description/Responsibilities
This position will lead and/OR provide technical support within the Gas Storage Operations and Reservoir Integrity &
Engineering organizations for the operation, maintenance, integrity verification, and capital improvements involving
Consumers Energy gas storage facilities. Primary focus is pressure - inventory verification, reservoir engineering, design
and operation of gas storage facilities, gas storage wells design, risk and threat identification, adherence to API
Recommended Practices (specifically API RP 1171), and associated pipelines and equipment.
The Reservoir Engineer will perform standard to complex geological and reservoir assignments utilizing technical and
professional work knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, theory, procedures and criteria in
carrying out a sequence of related geosciences and engineering tasks. Judgment is required on details of work and in
making preliminary selections and adaptations of geological alternatives and principles. The proposed candidate must
independently evaluate, select and apply geological modeling theory, and techniques, using judgment in making
adaptations and modifications.
The individual must have a strong geological or petroleum engineering background, as well as strong technical writing and
verbal communication skills. The individual must be a motivated self-starter, as well as possess a desire to learn and work
within a team environment. The individual must be comfortable organizing and prioritizing work activities, including site
observations to drilling, workover, and wireline logging operations.
The Engineer will work directly (or lead) senior engineering staff in all department aspects, including:
Reservoir model development
Geological data evaluation
Reservoir pressure - volume calculation and bi-annual reporting
Well logging analysis
Strategic storage field planning
Drilling program design
Well design
Well remedial design and execution
Risk identification and mitigation
This location of this position will be negotiable, but the selected candidate will be required to initially work out of
Jackson/Parnall site at least 2-3 times per week.
Requirements/Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Geological or Petroleum Engineering from an ABET accredited program
3 + years of applied experience

Familiarity with Michigan Basin Geology and Reservoirs
Professional Engineer (PE) certification or the ability to earn certification within 5 years
Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills

Ability to travel throughout Michigan
This position will be filled at the appropriate salary grade from the job family based upon the skills, knowledge, and
experience of the selected candidate.

Planning, design, construction, and maintenance of Gas Storage facilities as well as facilities and ancillary support
process for all utility operations. Individual possesses the skills to lead, problem solve, and work well in a team
environment. Individual should exemplify safe work practices and follow the company's compliance standards. Lead
and/or assist with engineering projects to include design, plans, inspections, system planning, specifications, reports,
maps, environmental impacts, permits, contracts, schedules, estimates, surveying, easements, data collection,
construction observation, and field investigation. Provide engineering services with accuracy, integrating all applicable
governmental and company laws, standards and procedures on time and under budget. Use computer assisted
engineering, design, and drafting software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents. Understand
and follow company established standard procedures for file structure and standard drawing procedures for projects
