Statement: The Unit Shipping Associate oversees certain facets of the shipping area to ensure that all paperwork is properly done, all costs are controlled and all products are shipped correctly and expeditiously.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible to report any problems found with the forklift.
- Serves as: a double check-to ensure that all necessary paperwork and documents are correct and provided as required, and as a final check for quality control.
- Maintains inventory of shipping supplies in coordination with purchasing department to meet demand.
- Keeps shipping dock and packaging area clean and organized.
- Operates forklift and loads trucks to confirm proper loading and packaging of freight.
- Packaging freight properly to ensure safe shipping.
- Back up for service shipping area.
- Responsible for producing make parts needed by the service shipping area.
- Explore new packaging options to improve freight safety and cost efficiency and savings.
- Backup to ensure that forklift batteries are charged each night.
How to measure performance:
- Product must be shipped in a timely manner.
- Maintain a minimum of shipping errors.
- Forklifts are maintained properly.
- Maintains a clean and safe work area
- Package product to ensure that it arrives undamaged.
- Reports to work on time with the appropriate work apparel.
Skills Required:
- Good written and verbal communications skills.
- High organizational ability.
- Effective time management skills.
