Department Summary
The candidate hired for this position will report to the Director of Revenue Requirements & Analysis which is part of the
Rates & Regulation department. This area has primarily responsibility for overseeing the planning, development and
execution of the major electric and gas rate cases filed before the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC). The
Company expects to prepare electric and gas rate cases about annually for the next several years. The rate case
schedule is such that the Company typically is working on an already filed case while at the same time developing and
preparing the next case for filing.
Job Description/Responsibilities
Performs in the role of Rate Case Manager, with responsibility for overseeing the planning, development and status
reporting of the Company's major gas and electric rate cases filed with the Michigan Public Service Commission.
Develops project plan and schedule and ensures project management best practices are followed.
Provides leadership to project team to resolve issues, organizes and leads project-related meetings and ensures
effective communication among stakeholders.
Responsible for status reporting, and other reporting as required, and communicates progress and issues to
Management.
Ensures alignment among project team members and other key stakeholders.
Leads the development of the Policy testimony of the VP Rates and Regulation.
Has overall responsibility for managing the MPSC Staff rate case audit.
Coordinates the analysis of the testimony and exhibits filed by the MPSC and all parties intervening in each rate case,
and manages the identification of all differences between the Company's position and the other parties
Will be responsible for overseeing a major rate case process improvement initiative in 2017, utilizing the CE Way/Lean
principles.
Requirements/Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Admin, Engineering
3+ Years of experience leading major projects.

Must be able to clearly identify and describe past project management roles and responsibilities .
Must be skilled in Microsoft Project, basic Excel, Word and Power Point skills required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and in dealing with ambiguity.
Ability to assess situations where a decision is required, and in making those decisions when necessary.
Comfortable working with multiple departments and all levels of Management.
PMO Certification desired.
Experience working on rate cases or on regulatory-related projects is desired, but not required.
This job will be will be filled commensurate with the candidates successful education and experience.
Overview
The Rate Analyst Job Family is utilized primarily in the Rates and Regulations department. Performing all of the Rate
functions for the Company including but not limited to: analyzing rate information to produce forecasts of business,
industry, and economic conditions for use in making rate decisions, assemble rate testimony, spreadsheets and charts
and graphs used to illustrate business and rate scenarios, interpret data affecting rate programs, such as price, yield,
stability, future trends in investment risks, and economic influences.
Nature of Work
At the lowest level in this job family, the work performed may tend to be of a routine and less complex nature where the
work responsibilities can be proficiently performed after a relatively short training period.
At the highest levels in this job family the work performed will tend to be of a complex nature involving knowledge of
various functional/specialized disciplines where the work responsibilities can only be proficiently performed after a
relatively long training / experience-related time period and often requires an advanced degree. The work environment
often includes dealing with risk and limiting exposure.
Leadership, management, facilitation and interaction with senior management will be markedly increased at the mid -
