We are looking to recruit a dynamic and proven business development professional to lead our automotive strategy. Specific Responsibilities:
- Develop the strategic pathway and plan for Cosworth to achieve success in its business targets.
- Develop and mentor the supply chain team to achieve key targets and deliverables
- Identify key suppliers within the industry and develop working partnerships focussed on cost , quality and delivery
- Develop and implement effective stockholding and reduction policies to benchmark standards focussed on lean objectives and strategies.
- Investigate the supply market to identify the class leading suppliers for all engine components.
- Instigate commercial contracts with suppliers to protect CRLs best interests
- Negotiate component and tooling costs for engine components
- Provide accurate component and tooling costing data for all project proposals
- Provide a component sourcing service to all projects
- Liaise with SQA to maintain the highest standard of manufacturing practice and to monitor supplier performance
- Develop effective reporting structure against key targets and deliverables.
- Source and procure all services and consumables and plant.
- Drive a lean, cost reduction mentality within the department.
- Review and negotiate long term contracts for the appropriate commodities
- Negotiate all capital expenditure and create and agree contracts to protect CRL against commercial risk
- Ensure all purchasing information is accurately recorded on the computer system
- Prepare and supply reports on central purchasing activities
- Commercial agreements are in place for all major spend
- Commodity markets are reviewed and market leading suppliers are identified and assessed
- Options for integration with key customer purchase systems are reviewed and adopted where appropriate
- Central Purchase systems are efficient and adhered to
- Generic costing database is available
Required skills and experience:-
- Experience of leading and developing professional purchasing, logistics and warehousing teams
- Experience of working in the Automotive industry in OE and Tier 1 supply chain production environments.
- A background in Engineering with the ability to understand and communicate detailed engineering drawings would be an advantage.
- Strong working understanding of SAP ERP systems
- Proven track record of negotiating substantial contracts
- Experienced as purchasing professional within a similar environment
- Demonstrated ability to influence and sell change within a complex organisation.
- Has achieved organisation level benefits via successful communication and exploitation of relationships with customers and suppliers both internal and external.
