Big Rapids, Michigan (population 10,601) is seeking a dynamic, collaborative administrator/executive for the position of City Manager to lead the City, consisting of 204 employees (87 full-time) and a $23 million budget. Big Rapids is a stable (two managers in the past 30 years, with present manager retiring) full-service community situated in west central Michigan along the Muskegon River; home to Ferris State University with 10,016 students on the main campus; County Seat to Mecosta County, that is located between Grand Rapids and Traverse City on US 131. The City’s well-balanced economy, combined with its many natural features, proves to be an exceptional environment within which to work and live.
Candidates are preferred to have a MPA, MBA or related degree with at least 7 years city manager/assistant city manager or equivalent government experience. Ideal candidate has diverse municipal experience with emphasis on conservative fiscal management, communication skills, economic development, labor negotiations and land use.
The City offers an excellent benefits package with a starting salary range between $100,000-$105,000 DOQ. Residence desired upon hiring.
