Work independently performing routine general maintenance and repair throughout the refrigeration systems. Must be proficient in the troubleshooting and repair of electrical, plumbing, and Ammonia Refrigeration.
Responsibilities
•Performs all repair and adjustment of refrigeration system, electrical work in accordance with OSHA Standards.
•Test, maintain, and evaluate equipment performance using instruments such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, pyrometers, and pressure gauges.
•Test and calibrate ammonia equipment.
•Maintain tools and machinery in good condition and use tools and equipment carefully as instructed.
•Maintains accurate preventive maintenance records.
•Answer security alarm calls as needed.
•Keeps work area clean and performs housekeeping duties as required.
•Must be able to work flexible shifts if required.
•Must be able to respond to facility after hours call backs.
•Performs related work and other job assignments as required.
Education
•High school graduate or equivalent preferred
Work Experience
•4 - 5 years Ammonia refrigeration maintenance mechanic experience
•Successfully completed four (4) RETA courses a plus
Skills and Knowledge
•Ability to read, interpret and follow written job instructions.
•Ability to follow and comply with quality standards.
•Ability to comprehend and comply with GMP rules and Food Safety guidelines.
•May be required to obtain and maintain valid hi-lo license.
•Ability to work as contributing member within the team.
•Ability to operate a PC (keyboard/mouse).
•Knowledge of general safe work practices.
•Committed to maintaining a safe work environment.
•Strong communication skills, including verbal and written communications.
•Ability to work with hands in mechanically oriented situations.
•Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, as well as interpret pencil sketches and diagrams.
•Understanding of P&ID’s.
•Knowledge of various types of equipment in the Ammonia Refrigeration maintenance trade.
•Will be required to be trained in HAZMAT 24 hour certification.
•OSHA and PSM program knowledge a plus.
