The Purchasing Manager will direct and control the indirect purchasing activities for Federal-Mogul Powertrain. The manager supervises approximately three direct employees, and works closely with stakeholders and indirect buyers at our plants. This person will become a valued member of our global purchasing management team, where we strive to promote from within wherever possible; therefore opportunities for advancement are strong.
An ideal candidate for this position will be degreed, and a proven indirect purchasing manager, with experience in a fast-moving matrixed organization. Additionally, they will have established supervisory skills and a drive to deliver exceptional results.

As the Subject Matter Expert (SME), understand and effectively communicate global business trends & drivers (technological & market footprints). Provide leadership and utilize expertise to shape processes and supply directions / strategies throughout the organization. Segment and define supply base to support trends and drivers. Oversee the PT indirect spend and manage opportunities within the plant managed spend areas from opportunity detection through project development to implementation. This will be done by data analytics, internal (plants) and external (suppliers) workshops, project work, leveraged benchmarks and negotiations and other means of purchasing. Actively participate and take the lead in further improvements of purchasing tools, processes (GPP and local) and guidelines from an Indirect Purchasing perspective. Give training and coaching to buyers where required. Actively work with their team and other stakeholders and buyers on improving the supply base setup, spend security, spend leverage, spend costs, and payment terms. Manage cross-functional teams where applicable. Provide leadership, expertise and direction to buyers in negotiation strategy and during negotiations.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Materials Management or Logistics; MBA is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5-7 years' experience in Purchasing or Materials Management with a preference for high-volume manufacturing industries. Minimum 3 years' experience in strategic indirect purchasing. Demonstrated background and proven experience with high level supplier negotiations and materials management. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Experience in Automotive or in a manufacturing industry
