Title: Product Design Engineer-ACISID: req8380Type: Full Time Function: Product Engineering Division: PT - PT Corporate Location: Plymouth, MI, United States (47001 Port Street) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for Design, Development, Testing and Analysis of Electrical and Mechanical components, systems and processes for the ACIS Group including spark plugs, ignition coils, advanced igniters and electronics. Drafting 2D and 3D parts and assemblies; development of mechanical/thermal Finite Element models and meshes; analysis and interpretation of results; recording and reporting of relevant outcomes. Interface with Customers, Application engineers, Process engineers, Manufacturing plants, and Suppliers to develop new product technology in the area of ACIS systems and to move that technology toward production products. Ability to present results in customer review, industry and academic conference environments.The position requires a sound engineering knowledge of design principles grounded in mechanical and electrical theory along with the ability to apply this knowledge of materials, testing and product development. Should have a working knowledge or ICE and spark ignition. Experience in the root cause of failure analysis coupled with good communication and team-working skills. Competence in both 2D and 3D CAD environments, and the use of collaborative tools and methods. Apply basic technical disciplines from area of study.Project Management SkillsCapable of report writing and data processing using computer software.Able to prepare 2D and 3D mechanical drawing using computer software.Professionally prepare and present technical information using computersoftware.Ability to process and interpret measurements and data collection, processing and interpretation using basic lab equipment - multimeters, scales, o-scopes, micrometers, etc.Proficient in performing root cause failure analysis of components.Proficient in developing design specifications and work instructions. Ability to fabricate of simple fixtures and prototypes using common hand tools and machine shop tools.Capability to design for high volume manufacture and manufacturing costs. Cost modeling.Ability to effectively interact with customers and internal groups using interpersonal skills, and communication skills.Use organizational skills to keep track of multiple projects. Use Internal and Customer Specific Quality System.Use Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP): DFMEA, PFMEA, and PPAP.Provide support as requested by manager.REQUIREMENTS:Minimum Bachelors Degree in Engineering (preferably BSME or BSEE)Experience in the automotive field,engines, or combustion a plus.
