Job Description:
Dematic has an immediate need for a Mechanical Systems Engineer in our Solution Development Department. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years experience working with the application of material handling solutions. This includes mechanical design and machine control with an understanding of warehouse control software and operational considerations. This position will be required to perform the following duties:
Job Family Specific Responsibilities:
* Participates in the estimating of mainly medium sized MHE systems.
* Helps develop system concept layouts and proposal drawings.
* Produces material list of equipment and Mechanical Engineering pricing.
* Submits quote requests to Purchasing and assists in evaluating the quotes from vendors.
* Reviews estimating inputs for completeness, accuracy, and compatibility.
* Maintains a complete set of project engineering records on all assignments.
* Participates in technical reviews and price review meetings.
* Participates in recommending ideas for improving procedures, quality, designs, applications, and equipment.
* Keep management apprised of quote status.
* Obtain approvals, as required, for final pricing.
* Follows company, department and project procedures, work instructions and practices.
* Keeps abreast of the latest company product design and developments, and current costing.
* This position includes possible assignments to the AE Mechanical Department.
* Occasional travel is required in this position. Usually trips are planned and are of short duration. However, requests for travel on short notice may be made and extended travel is sometimes required in support of systems commissioning and acceptance.
* May be exposed to next level of duties and responsibilities.

* Identifies and resolves readily identifiable, clearly defined problems.
Direction of Others:
This position does not directly supervise others but may provide general guidance and training for support staff.
Key Working Relationships:
Primarily intra-organizational contacts and some external contacts.
